Moses: 10 Commandments

4th grade Bible Memory Verse: “The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” Exodus 34:6 NLT

God called Moses to the top of the mountain and gave him rules He wanted the people to follow. Rules aren’t bad. They keep us safe and teach us how to treat others.

Adam and Eve had 1 rule and broke that. How many of you have broken one of the commandments? Have you always obeyed your parents? Have you ever lied? Or wanted what someone else has (covet)? I’ve broken some of them. So did the Israelites. But the commandments teach us what sin is and why Jesus is important. Because He took away all the sin of those who believe in Him. Yay Jesus!

Let’s make homemade ice cream.

Ingredients:

2 plastic zipper bags – 1 quart and 1 gallon

2 Tablespoons sugar

vanilla (optional)

chocolate syrup

Ice

milk or half and half

1/2 cup salt

Now with no instructions, how would you make it?

Let me give you the instructions now.

If you didn’t know the directions, you probably put the salt into the little bag with the milk. But once you see the instructions, you know that is not the right way to do it. And it tastes really, really bad with the salt in the milk. Just like you have to follow the instructions to make good ice cream, you have to follow God’s instructions to be happy.

Now go enjoy your homemade ice cream and keep following God’s recipe for happiness too!
